Before developing any team development activities, she meets with the team members individually or as a group to determine issues and concerns that need to be addressed. The individual discussions also help Diane build rapport with the participants and get everyone’s buy-in for the program. The information gained is invaluable in developing an approach that is most relevant to each specific team’s needs. The investment of time in doing a thorough needs assessment substantially increases the effectiveness of the program and the productivity of the team. Based on the information gained from the discussions with team members, Diane develops a highly customized approach to address the team’s needs. A new team requires a very different approach than a team that is embroiled in conflict. But in either situation--Teamwork doesn't just happen. Teams need:
Diane’s team development programs are very highly customized to the specific needs of each individual client. Furthermore, Diane’s approach is very practical — she does not concentrate on "warm and fuzzy" activities but rather emphasizes the foundation that the team needs to succeed. In some cases certain individuals may benefit from feedback on their personal behavior and how it is perceived by others. There are many options for providing such feedback, including one-on-one coaching, behavioral profiling, and 360-degree feedback to name a few. Diane follows up with specific individuals and the team to get them back on track and keep them there.
